Scrapfit workout 37: Dream a little Dream

Hey Friends,

I'm just dropping in again to bring to you a Scrapfit work out. In case you didn't know I am a new member of their design team. Each month there are two challenges brought to you the 1st and 15th of the month called workouts that are made to get you thinking creativly and getting back in shape with your scrapbooking.  You will have until the end of the month to submit your two workouts for a chance to win some awesome prizes from the scrapfit sponsors.

This week's workout is:

Workout #37 - Dream A Little Dream - We all have dreams! We use to dream as a child of what we wanted to be when we grew up!  We now dream of our goals (vacation, fitness, job, house, etc), hopes for our children/family or maybe a new scrappy item to add to your collection!  Lets create a layout based on a ‘dream’ we have had or currently have!  Be creative!

Here is my take on the challenge:

I decided to go ahead and scrapbook some of my daughter's older pictures. I used the Title dream from Gypsy Wanderings. The Designer Paper I printed out using my Cricut Imagine and the Best Friends Cartridge.. If you click the image and see it a little bigger you will notice that I REAL STITCHED an accent circle around the left hand side of the layout.

I hope you can stop by Scrapfit and enter this challenge. I think it's a great one. Here are some of the prizes you can win.
The sponsor this month is Lucky Girl Crafts!  If you get a kit from them you are a Lucky Girl!
the second prize is donated from Scrap Fit

Hiya

I just wanted to share this really quick layout I made. I know I haven't made my 2 episodes per week like I usually do but that is because of my Ustream Class,, took alot of planning and prep work. I have logged that under videos for this week
I wanted to share this quick layout that I made the other day.

It was basically really simle used Nursery Rhymes font for the Daddy Title and the Girl came from Gypsy Wanderings.

I am slowly but surely getting caught up on my scrapbooking. :)

January Class Video Recording: Simply Charmed

Hey there Friends,

Thank you for the overwhelming support for my Class last night. I was so happy to see so many familiar names come out and join me. I really had a fun time being able to show you how I go about making one of my layouts.

This post will have alot of information on it.
The  Instruction/ Supply post with all my cuts and sizes for this Class is posted here.

Where I get.... from
ATG Tape- The Tape Depot
Cuttlebug Folders- Oh my Crafts

You can use these cartridges to re-create this layout
Paisley & Create A Critter are my main 2 suggestions. You can so a search for "Mushroom" "lady bug" and "Grass" on Cricut Search and that should give you a few options.

If you are having a hard time finding the grass border, you can easily hand cut some some plain scissors. Just cut some fringe into some green paper

Have a suggestion, idea on what cartridge or theme for the Feburary Scrapbook Class?? Make sure you take a look at my ever updating cartridge list, and jot me an email with your idea. the top 4 suggested cartridges/themes will go into the final poll to be posted here as well as my facebook fan page

Here is a photo of my final finished layout. IF you watch the class recording you will notice that I did add some extra embellishing after the class finished.

Companion Challenge #10 Ahead for the holidays

hey there friends,

Welcome back to another companion challenge. First of all let me apologize for this being so late in the day, Youtube is being world class slow today for loading videos. I have been waiting for 3 hours for my challenge video to load.

But before I go ahead and start with the challenge, let me announce the winners of the Dia De Los Muertos Blog Hop

Both Winners were chosen via random.org,

The American Crafts Craft Fair paper Set, and Matching Journaling Stickers

Bonnie Cantu

And the Facebook Fan page Give away: Ki memories Pet shop

goes to Monica Lowrance

If you ladies could email me your contact information, I will make sure to get your prizes out to you this week.

Ok now for the challenge.

I really enjoyed this challenge a ton, and I hope you will too. This week's challenge is to "get ahead for the holidays" by premaking your 2010 thanksgiving scrapbook page!! You can do any size scrapbook page that you are comfortable with 8x8, 12x12 8.5x11, whatever! just make sure you leave photo mats for your pictures

This week's crafty companion is Melissa G. She said that she felt this was a big challenge for her, since she had only done one other layout before.

I think she did a fantastic job don't you?

For my project I created a double page layout!

The background Marquee Shape is from Gypsy wanderings, I sized it at 9.86 inches. All designer paper is from Me & My big ideas Cornicopia stack then went ahead and cut it in half and split it between both of the pages. The following red strip is measured at 3 inches, and then i went ahead and punched it with my Threading Water Fiskars Punch. I then went ahead and put at 2.5 inch strip of orange paper, and on top of that a 1 inch strip of a coordinating Designer paper
Don't you love those paper piecing? I found them on SVG Cuts and I used my Make-the-cut software and cut them out at 4 inches( Note: I am not an affiliate, nor did I receive anything in order for me to list them on my site, I just thought they were super cute, and a good price point) I used my PKS Laffy Taffy Stamps for the faces on the pilgrims. The "Happy Thanksgiving" is cut from Simply Charmed at 3 inches

The Turkey here is also from SVG Cuts, and cut out at 4 inches. I drew the face on the turkey myself. The Gobble Gobble phrase, i cut from Create a Critter at 1.5 inches. I cut it out twice.

.

The entries for this challenge will be combined with Companion Challenge #9, and the prize for this month is Thanksgiving 2010 Cricut Cartridge.  The winner will be chosen via random.org

Dia De Los Muetros Blog Hop

 Hey Friends,

Welcome to the Dia De Los Muetros / Celebration of Life Blog Hop. If You  arrived here from Erika, then you are in the right spot. If not, don't worry, I will have the blog list at the bottom of this post so you can continue to hop along. You do not want to miss anyone on this hop it is FULL of some amazing talent out there.

If you do not know about Dia De Los Muetros, I will explain it to you before I go ahead and show you my project and video. Dia De Los Muetros is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and Latin American Countries on November 1st, where participants honor the dead, and celebrate and remember the lives they lived. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts.
As many of you know, I am from Puerto Rico, and unfortunately it is not a holiday that we celebrate there, but we do have All Saints Day which is similar-ish  :)
Today I will be honoring the Life of My Maternal Grandfather who passed away in 2006
 Don Pablo Garcia
My Grandfather was a great man! When he was young he dropped out of school in the 5th grade and went to work in order to help provide for his family. All his life he was a hardworker, and even though he worked hard for everything that he had, he always gave to those that were in need. In his village in Puerto Rico he had earned the title "Don" which means a man of great respect. The father of 6 Children  (the youngest my mother) he always provided everything he could within his means and made time for each and everyone one of his children no matter how tired he was from working.
My greatest memory of my grandfather was as a child, we would walk around his farm land and he would show me how to take care of all the animals. Together we would feed the chickens and the geese. Then we would collect vegetables and he would sit me on his lap and together we would split the beans.  He literally had a honest heart of gold, and I will always miss his smile, his hugs and the quality time we spent together.

I created this scrapbook page layout in memory of his life. I don't have the picture put on the page just yet because i have to dig through my mother's albums to get the picture i am thinking of, and have it copied.

The title reads Te Recuerdo " I remember you" Please click to view the picture full size, there is alot of detail in this layout.

I cut the skull from Rock Princess at 3 inches, and the roses at 1.5 inches
The candles are from Christmas, and cut at 4 inches,
The marquee shape is from Gypsy wanderings and cut at 7.75 and 8 inches respectively
The Ribbon beneath the photo mat is cut from winter frolic at .80 inches
I pretty much went doodle crazy on the layout.
The pattern paper is Basic Grey- Marrakech- Orchid Oolong (Discontinued)

In celebration of this fun blog hop I will be giving away 2 prizes, one here on my blog and the other on my Facebook Fan Page.

Episode 47: Naptime Layout

Hey ladies,

My Daughter's Birthday is just around the corner so I've been in a major SCRAPBOOKING mood, actually more of a frenzy. I've been trying to get some of her remaining older pictures scrapped before her party so that her 1 year old scrapbook is as close to completion as possible. So here's a good step in the right direction

I've had a few requests for more "Gypsy" in my videos, so I attempted to film a little explanation of how I design layouts in my gypsy. Which is just the standard 12x24 technique.

I cannot believe how many cricut cartridges I used in this layout. I feel so proud of actually using my cartridge stash!

Cuts Breakdown
NAP cut from Cursive 101 at 3.31 inches (used shadow blackout feature as well), welded together
TIME cut from Winter Woodland at 1 3/4 inches, hide contour  for the inside cuts  (used shadow feature as well), welded together
MUSHROOM/BUTTERFLY cut from Sugar & Spice (lite) at 6 1/2 inches
FLOWERS cut from Sugar & Spice at 4 inches
cut from Pooh & Friends at 3 inches
SUN cut from Create a Critter at 4 inches

Enjoy the video

** i didn't show it in the video but i decided my layout looked a bit empty so I added clusters of buttons tied with hemp cord***

Episode 42: Another Quick Halloween Card

Friends,

I thought it was about time to get back on the video tutorial posting horse. So Mind my mistakes I'm still a bit rusty after vacation. Or at least I feel rusty.

I started out wanting to do the latest Mojo Monday sketch challenge, since it has litterally been forever and a day since I did one of their sketches

here is this week's sketch that I decided to use.

I had so much fun using the mini monsters cricut cartridge that I decided to give it another go. I used my Gypsy and the hide contour feature to hide the cuts for the face. I once again drew my own faces onto the pumpkins
The empty tag is for my Scrappy Moms a Haunting we Go sentment stamps. That I'm still waiting for, I was hoping the mailman would bring them today along with my new cricut cartridges, but nope. He brought me nothing but junk mail today.

anyhoo Enjoy the Video

Pink Stamper Color Challenge

Hey there Again Friends,

I decided to do the My Pink Stamper Challenge. This time around it was to create a project using the colors, Green, Pink, Brown and Orange.

I had no idea what to do for this. So This is what I came up with. This type of cardstyle is a trifold pocket card

I was inspired by my paper this time. The brown pattern paper had a huge rose on it, and it was almost a shame to cut it up, so i decided to make some spiral paper rosses out of coordinating cardstock to match with it

For this challenge, I used Gypsy Wanderings for the Single Card shape, and I welded a circle from George to get the sircle at the top,  I also used gypsy wanderings to cut out the branches that I used for the roses as Leaves.

DCWV Guy Stack Cardstock Stack

Episode 23: Waterfall Card

I was able to shoot a very low tech version of a video. Using my Prehistoric Cam. Sorry for the strange angle. I got a new desk in my scrap area and Not everything is organized the way it should be just yet. I am hoping to have everything and reorganized by the end of today.

Anyways. When I was at CKC I saw a card like this and I was finally able to get around to making one. This is the most simple way I could figure it out. This is a great way to use your scraps!!! I know maybe some of you out there save every little piece of paper, like me, and this is a way to use them

My Slide mounts, I am not sure if I mentioned this in my video, I did it all in one quick shot and May have left this out. They were made from 1 7/8in x 1 7/8 in stacked on top of 2x2 in squares.

Like I said in the video I used Gypsy Wanderings and Once upon a princess ( for the title)

Mojo 140

I am proud that this mojo monday submission is on time.

I decided to use my 6x6 Kioshi paper pad that I purchased at CKC and from there I just played around. I was going to have my main image be a stamp that I was going to color and layer but after trying around I didn't have the right colors to match close enough. They were too bright and this is more of a subtle card. I then decided that I wanted to use something from "Just because cards" because I didn't make anything with it just yet. Found the little sheep, and when I put it on my A2 Card template on my gypsy I realized that I had to make it really big (5.75) in order for it to be an appriopiate sized image for the card.
