If you do not know about Dia De Los Muetros, I will explain it to you before I go ahead and show you my project and video. Dia De Los Muetros is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and Latin American Countries on November 1st, where participants honor the dead, and celebrate and remember the lives they lived. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts.
As many of you know, I am from Puerto Rico, and unfortunately it is not a holiday that we celebrate there, but we do have All Saints Day which is similar-ish :)
Today I will be honoring the Life of My Maternal Grandfather who passed away in 2006
Don Pablo Garcia
My Grandfather was a great man! When he was young he dropped out of school in the 5th grade and went to work in order to help provide for his family. All his life he was a hardworker, and even though he worked hard for everything that he had, he always gave to those that were in need. In his village in Puerto Rico he had earned the title "Don" which means a man of great respect. The father of 6 Children (the youngest my mother) he always provided everything he could within his means and made time for each and everyone one of his children no matter how tired he was from working.
My greatest memory of my grandfather was as a child, we would walk around his farm land and he would show me how to take care of all the animals. Together we would feed the chickens and the geese. Then we would collect vegetables and he would sit me on his lap and together we would split the beans. He literally had a honest heart of gold, and I will always miss his smile, his hugs and the quality time we spent together.
I created this scrapbook page layout in memory of his life. I don't have the picture put on the page just yet because i have to dig through my mother's albums to get the picture i am thinking of, and have it copied.
here is the blog list. Have fun hopping!
