Terrific Tuesday w/ Scrappy Moms Stamps: Create a Critter

Hey There friends
It's time for another Terrific Tuesday Challenge over at Scrappy Moms Stamps. This week we are playing with Everyone's Favorite cartridge, Create-a-critter.

If you do not have this cartridge, it's alright you are still welcome to play, just make sure you use another cartridge with similar cuts.

We want everyone to join in and have a great time.

This week for my project I decided to try to attempt to create a little bit more of a masculine feel card. I still wanted to keep it fun, and cute.

The card size is 5x7
I cut barn at 2.10 inches and the cow at 2.25.
I actually wasn't happy with the layering on the Create a Critter Cartridge for the barn, So I took a few extra steps to change it up a bit.
I actually cut the barn out twice in red in both layers then used my exacto knife to cut out the x cut lines the cricut makes I then after glueing the two red parts together I trimmed off the roof. with a pair of scissors. I then cut another an additional base image for the barn in white and layered this on.  I used my Gypsy to Hide Contour the heart from the barn to keep it more masculine.I hope this makes sense

The pattern paper is from K&company Super Paper Pad
The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps Furry Friends  NOW ON SALE

Companion Challenge #10 Ahead for the holidays

hey there friends,

Welcome back to another companion challenge. First of all let me apologize for this being so late in the day, Youtube is being world class slow today for loading videos. I have been waiting for 3 hours for my challenge video to load.

But before I go ahead and start with the challenge, let me announce the winners of the Dia De Los Muertos Blog Hop

Both Winners were chosen via random.org,

The American Crafts Craft Fair paper Set, and Matching Journaling Stickers

Bonnie Cantu

And the Facebook Fan page Give away: Ki memories Pet shop

goes to Monica Lowrance

If you ladies could email me your contact information, I will make sure to get your prizes out to you this week.

Ok now for the challenge.

I really enjoyed this challenge a ton, and I hope you will too. This week's challenge is to "get ahead for the holidays" by premaking your 2010 thanksgiving scrapbook page!! You can do any size scrapbook page that you are comfortable with 8x8, 12x12 8.5x11, whatever! just make sure you leave photo mats for your pictures

This week's crafty companion is Melissa G. She said that she felt this was a big challenge for her, since she had only done one other layout before.

I think she did a fantastic job don't you?

For my project I created a double page layout!

The background Marquee Shape is from Gypsy wanderings, I sized it at 9.86 inches. All designer paper is from Me & My big ideas Cornicopia stack then went ahead and cut it in half and split it between both of the pages. The following red strip is measured at 3 inches, and then i went ahead and punched it with my Threading Water Fiskars Punch. I then went ahead and put at 2.5 inch strip of orange paper, and on top of that a 1 inch strip of a coordinating Designer paper
Don't you love those paper piecing? I found them on SVG Cuts and I used my Make-the-cut software and cut them out at 4 inches( Note: I am not an affiliate, nor did I receive anything in order for me to list them on my site, I just thought they were super cute, and a good price point) I used my PKS Laffy Taffy Stamps for the faces on the pilgrims. The "Happy Thanksgiving" is cut from Simply Charmed at 3 inches

The Turkey here is also from SVG Cuts, and cut out at 4 inches. I drew the face on the turkey myself. The Gobble Gobble phrase, i cut from Create a Critter at 1.5 inches. I cut it out twice.

.

The entries for this challenge will be combined with Companion Challenge #9, and the prize for this month is Thanksgiving 2010 Cricut Cartridge.  The winner will be chosen via random.org

USTREAM Class #1 from last night

Hey Friends,

Last night was my first ustream class ever, and halfway through it I remembered to press record. SO I'm super sorry for those of you that couldn't make it, but I pretty much go over what happened in the first part of the video. SO you didn't miss out too much

I guess it was just a blooper from my first ustream. I was so happy that you all came to my class. I never thought that when I started this blog i would meet and make so many wonderful friends, and you all mean so much to me.

I am going to try to make a ustream class every month, and it's going to be strickly scrapbooking, and scrapbooking techniques. I've been so carried away with cards on here and I don't want to neglect making pages. SO this will not only push me to make more layouts, but hopefully those of you out there who are behind as well.

Here is the video, and underneath it the pictures of the finished layout!

Episode 47: Naptime Layout

Hey ladies,

My Daughter's Birthday is just around the corner so I've been in a major SCRAPBOOKING mood, actually more of a frenzy. I've been trying to get some of her remaining older pictures scrapped before her party so that her 1 year old scrapbook is as close to completion as possible. So here's a good step in the right direction

I've had a few requests for more "Gypsy" in my videos, so I attempted to film a little explanation of how I design layouts in my gypsy. Which is just the standard 12x24 technique.

I cannot believe how many cricut cartridges I used in this layout. I feel so proud of actually using my cartridge stash!

Cuts Breakdown
NAP cut from Cursive 101 at 3.31 inches (used shadow blackout feature as well), welded together
TIME cut from Winter Woodland at 1 3/4 inches, hide contour  for the inside cuts  (used shadow feature as well), welded together
MUSHROOM/BUTTERFLY cut from Sugar & Spice (lite) at 6 1/2 inches
FLOWERS cut from Sugar & Spice at 4 inches
cut from Pooh & Friends at 3 inches
SUN cut from Create a Critter at 4 inches

Enjoy the video

** i didn't show it in the video but i decided my layout looked a bit empty so I added clusters of buttons tied with hemp cord***

Feeling Much more Creative

Friends,

I am slowly but surely feeling crafty again :) It mustve been all the mojo vibes you sent me. I really appreciate it. This is a not- so quick layout. Simple but I didn't have time to work on it as much as I usually would a project. So I had to do parts of it and com back to it.

I made this laout for Momo her challenge was to create a baby themed project. I know that I used animals for this but the real start of it is my daughter, and she's a baby :)
I Used create a critter for all the cuts, but do you notice the shell of the turtle?? I used the Hide Contour Feature on my gypsy to change the spots from a circle to a heart.

The animals I made to match the animals on my daughter's pj pants in the photo :)

She was 5 months here, Time flies, she couldn't even crawl and now she' super active! Sigh!

Episode 40: "Up!" Card

Hey There Friends,

I made this card inspired by one of my favorite movies "Up!" I really love the message of the movie "it's never too late to follow your dreams" and through the trials of being an adult, a wife, and mother, I am constantly worrying about my husband's and daughter's goals and schedules and I forget about myself.

I hope You enjoy this easel card - but also take some time today to think about what you want out of life and let those dreams take flight.

You all are in my thoughts as I am on vacation and I hope to check back here with you soon. Please enjoy the video
