Works In progress!!!

I hate to say this but sometimes I get a really great idea for a card/layout or something crafty and then I start it, and all of a sudden the idea is forgotten or the creative juices run out. Has this happened to anyone? I'm sure I can't be the ONLY one in the world, if so, i'm not going to lie, that would stink!

Anyhoo. I started a few pages in my DD's Scrapbook, and since i've completly run out of ideas. I got the pictures on the page, and some paper layed out, but i feel there is to much empty space, and I wrote some journaling. Now i'm thinking "What else can i do with this?" I figure i need to add a title and some embellishments but everytime i go shopping, i forget about these projects. And then i come home and feel like wanting to hit myself when i'm once again stuck.

Here are my forever works in progress. Any ideas.. would be incredible!!!

Wish Rak Finally Completed

Once again this is another wonderful post about scrapshare. I just completed my Wish RAK (Random Act of Kindness) set, where someone posts a wishlist and you fulfill some of their wishes, and then you're able to post your wishlist, and someone will fulfill some of your wishes.

This one is for Shiregal!

Her wish list included some handmade cards as well as a giant wooden clothes pin in order to alter.
I made all the cards, as you can tell some are from previous card front swaps (extra) and some i made from scraps :). I was able to pick up the giant clothes pin from Joanns for .99 cents (had a coupon)

Will be sending first thing monday morning in a flat rate box. I think that's a really good wish RAK for only 5.60 total (4.90 for postage) What do you think?

recap of First Crop Night.

I had a really great time minus the calls and texts to DH to check on the baby. It all started with one phone call during the middle of the crop, asking how things were going. Then i heard my little one crying in the background and suddenly I began to worry. :(  Now that I look back I think it's funny how worried I was ( DH couldn't find the baby food, for some reason he thought i kept it in her room, silly bily) I guess this is a common thing for new mothers to get a little bit of anxiety once seperated from their child for the first few times.

The set up of the Crop was great, I had a huge table all to myself. I did end up bringing my cricut, and cutting mats. And thank goodness i did that, they had a cricut for everyone to use but not a cutting mat, and a Computer usb wire for people using mtc, design studio, or SCAL. Now i know that I bring my cricut accessorties, gypsy, and wires and mat, but NOT my cricut.

They also had a sissix and cuttlebug for everyone to use and the little folders. BUT they did not have many embossing folders. The woman hosting the crop was suprised at my scrapbooking since i had a few layouts already started and she called me "hardcore" when i Whipped out my ATG gun. hahaha. I didn't think i was a hardcore scrapbooker but i guess i am?!

Anyhoo. I was able to complete 2 pages ( minus journaling and a title on the other) as well as made 4 cute little bee cards.  I made them as a thank you to my aunt for making my little one a beautiful quilt. I always make 4 cards at once because  you never know when you're going to need a cute little card and it's easy peasy to just do all the cutting gluing at once... instead of the other option, running around like a chicken with your head cut off, rummaging through paper and glue trying to make something up last minute.. or maybe that's only me???

When i was scrapping at the crop I realized I had left my giant picfolio at home so I only had a limited amount of photos to play around with *sad sad sadface* so this is what I had done

I wiill post more pictures once i finish them 100% once i look around for the rest of the pictures.
Also I'm going to post up a complete crop packing list of what I brought and what to bring next time.. just so I can have it ( I already signed up for next month's crop).. also have to post some stuff about TIM Holtz class. :)

Here is what i was able to accomplish in 4 hours, well more like 3 because i spent alot of time too worried to create.

1st Crop Night @ Michaels **updated 2/2/11

 Hey Friends,

This is a very popular post that is often google searched. So if you are coming to my blog for the first time. Welcome..my website has grown and branched since I wrote this post over a year ago. I now focus on video tutorials for cardmaking and scrapbooking. Please feel free to visit my mail page here after reading this post.

Since I have first attended the crop night at michaels, I go every month. I find that it is fun to get out of the house I enjoy the social interaction with people who enjoy the same hobby as I do.

I have made great friends in my area and love just sharing my projects. Now adays I bring 1-2 projects to work on and end up talking the entire time.

My michaels has a cricut expression and a few cartridges(5) so I usually bring my gypsy. They have a ton of different colored cardstock available for people to use. They also have heat guns, xyron machines, a cuttlebug and a sizzix (with tons of dies).

If you are curious what tools your michaels has, you're best off callling before you go into the crop night to make sure you have everything you need to finish your project.

My micheals usually has crop night starting at 3pm and ending at store closing (9pm) but I usually go around 5pm and that is more than enough time for me to get some things done. They have a few  large tables set up and a handful of the same people show up at my crop night so there is always more than enough room to set up your supplies.

If you have any questions regarding crop night at michaels, please feel free to email me and I can help you out, when it doubt contact your local store.

Hugs

Cristina

**** here is the original post*****

Tonight is my first Crop night ever. Hosted at Michaels. I have never been to one before ( I feel like such a newbie) anyways I am staying up late tonight trying to figure out what to pack, then doing some quick page planning, figuring out what pictures, papers i need. and then hopefully doing all of my cricut cut outs during the day. It's been really difficult because hub has been sick a few days and i'm not sure how "up-to" he'll be for watching our baby girl during the day. (she's 5 1/2 months). I just want to make sure he is well rested for 5-9:45 when i will be running out of the house like a bat out of hell.

I'm very excited. Ok so here is what I have packed in my bag so far. Sorry if I'm getting all these names wrong.
  • 12 inch Trimmer with both the scoring and cutting blade (Cricut)
  • Craft Knife & a  Paper piercer thingy (Making Memories)
  • Self Healing Cutting mat (Purple Cows)
  • Free style Decorater w/ circle and straight guides (Purple Cows)
  • Quick Dry Adhesive, pop dots, photo squares
  • Journaling Pens & Templates
  • Pencil, Eraser cube and Sharpener( I mark down things before i cut)
  • Distress ink in Tea Dye and Black Soot (Tim Holtz)
  • Sanding Block (Making Memories)
  • Cutterbee Scissors
  • Piercing mat (Bazzil)
I'm not sure what tools I should bring other than that..

I'm only bringing enough paper for a few projects i wanna work on. Trying to limit to one medium sized bag. NOT bringing my album because that alone is a chunker.

Any advice on this would be fantastic. Oh it's 4 hours long if that helps
