Episode 55: Gingerbread Kisses Christmas Card

Hey There Friends,

I took a little poll over on my facebook page asking what you, my friends, wanted to see me make for a video. And not - so - suprising, everyone said "Christmas" I have been trying to come up with some really good ideas for Christmas time, because of course I will be making all of my cards home made.

I am so happy that I recently recieved my Scrappy Moms Winter Wishes stamp  set because OH MY WORD all the sentiments are just too cute and inspire me soo much.

Here is a cute card that I made yesterday for you all . I hope you enjoy it

For the Card base I used Once upon a princess, and the AC Chestnut Damask Embossed Cardstock.
The Second Layer is also from Once upon a princess and I used the DCWV Christmas Combo Stack
The cutesy Gingerbread people are from Just Because Cards the layer of green is just a scrap of DCWV Textured Cardstock
The ribbon border is cut from Winter Frolic

Enjoy

Make sure to stop by tomorrow for the Dia De Los Muertos Blog hop, it's a big one full of talented designers and some great candy/prizes as well :)

Saturday Share

Hey there friends,

Can you believe it's halloween weekend already? We have been getting into the Halloween spirit in my house. We already carved pumpkins

I made my daughter's halloween costume (Thanks for the tutu tutorial lauren!)

I even had some extra energy to throw something together for the mister

Yesterday I was so much in the halloween spirit. Yesterday my entire family were dressed up for the office Halloween party and we were a huge hit. Everyone said that we had the best duo costume. We were scarecrows.

I was talking to my amiga momo yesterday and I realized it's been forever since i posted a video. I mean a video that didn't have to do with any of my Challenges. SO today I decided to film a mini haul video and update. I also filmed a video for TOMORROW , so be on the watch for that  :)

I was allowed my scrap allowance this past weekend and I stocked up on some basics, I also went to tuesday morning for the first time, and I did not want to leave. They have some amazing scrap deals. I will have to go early in the week again to see their good steals.

I hope you enjoy this quick haul video. I hope everyone who is going out trick or treating tonight has a safe and enjoyable evening, Trick or treating will take place for the little ones in town tomorrow night.

First Christmas Card of the year

I know it's not even halloween yet, but I feel like christmas is just around the corner!!!!

Does anyone else feel that way. I thought I would get a start on some of my christmas cards for this year. And I always tend to go simple when I have a few to make, I thought I would share this really simple card that is quick and easy to make multipes of. The secret is using double sided paper
Ok so the designer paper I used here is discontinued, I picked it up at my local scrapbook store in the clearance pile Daisy Bucket Designs, Astor Park Collection, Browning Street. I'm not sure if it is actual "christmas paper" but it had reds and greens in it, and I thought why not give it a try.

The paper is 12x12 and I only ended up using a 2 inch strip of it. The one strip is 1.5x 3.75 punched with my fiskars apron lace punch , and the second is just 1/2 x3.5. The magic of double sided paper that it instantly coordinates  :)

The snowwman is cut from Winter Woodland at 4 inches.  I used Frosted lace stickles on her hat and heart. The tag is cut from Once upon a princess at 1.75 inches and  The stamp is from Scrappy Moms "Winter Wishes" I stamped it used my Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink. Everything else is inked with Frayed Burlap. Lastely I added some black eyelets, and tied a double bow to finish the card.

Hope you like it

Guest Designer for SEI Gaby Abby Challenges

Just wanted to share with you a project that I made for Gaby and Abby SEI Challenge

This was a bit of a challenge for me, because they provided the pattern paper and some other elements that I had to design with, and I at first thought it would be limiting, but I had to think of it more as "everything is already matched" so once I had that in my brain then it was easy to create a project.

This week the challenge was to create a project with a Halloween Candy theme, and I immediately thought of treat bags.
I created this cute treat bag using a piece of 4.5x 10.5 purple cardstock, then scored it at 4, 4.5, 5 and then 9. I folded the flaps, and then punched the edge of the top with my martha stewart drippy goo border punch.

The pattern paper is from the SEI Spooks 6x6 paper pad and is cut out at 4x3.5m and the black cardstock is measured out at 4.25 x3.75. The two ghosts are from the sei spooks diecuts, and I know you can't see it in the photo, but they are very glittery! The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms "A Haunting we will go" stamp set.

For the actual treat bag, i took a 4x9 treat bag and trimmed it down to 4.25 inches tall, and taped it to the inside of my  cardstock using my atg gun, i then filled it with yummy candy corn

I used the twist ties that come with the treat bags to tie my creation closed, I then tied a bow and used a glue dot to attach the button. My idea was that so whoever gets this doesn't have to destroy the whole bow, in order to eat the treats inside.

I hope you enjoy my project!

Card for Madison

Hey Friends,

I'm feeling alot better today. I just wanted to share this card that I made for madison. If you haven't made your card yet, you still have a few days to get one made.

I made this adorable card using Sugar & Spice cricut cartridge at 4 inches for the bear. I didn't cut out the face parts, and drew my own face instead. The pattern paper is from Carolyn Gavin Green house 8x8 stack, and this is a 5x7 card. The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Everyday greetings and I stamped it using my time holtz frayed burlap distress ink
I even created my own envelope and lined it using the same designer paper. didn't it come out soooo adorable?

USTREAM Class #1 from last night

Hey Friends,

Last night was my first ustream class ever, and halfway through it I remembered to press record. SO I'm super sorry for those of you that couldn't make it, but I pretty much go over what happened in the first part of the video. SO you didn't miss out too much

I guess it was just a blooper from my first ustream. I was so happy that you all came to my class. I never thought that when I started this blog i would meet and make so many wonderful friends, and you all mean so much to me.

I am going to try to make a ustream class every month, and it's going to be strickly scrapbooking, and scrapbooking techniques. I've been so carried away with cards on here and I don't want to neglect making pages. SO this will not only push me to make more layouts, but hopefully those of you out there who are behind as well.

Here is the video, and underneath it the pictures of the finished layout!

Cricutless A Pinch & A Dash Sneak Peak

Hey friends,

I just wanted to share this really quick card that I created, WITHOUT using my cricut at all.

I used my "faux imagine" technique and a handy pair of scissors to create this card. Even the pattern paper is digi! Everything is printed out on white cardstock with my hp printer.

I printed the lemonade, lemon, & designer paper from Lettering Delights Banner Day Fun
this is a freebie set for Members of Lettering Delights, 100% free and I've been meaning to use this but i never got around to it.

I printed the paper directly from my web browser, with their print now feature. I downloaded the images and imported them to inkscape and created a 1/8 inch border around all the images. After that, I just used my scissors to cut the border out of the white cardstock.

The yellow strip is a scrap from my stash, and i just used my Fiskars Apron Lace Border punch.

The sentiment is from the newest Scrappy Moms stamp set : A Pinch & A Dash

I added the ribbon and the card was done. This was super quick

Companion Challenge #9

Hey Friends,

I thought I had already written this on auto-post. Guess not!

Welcome back to another companion challenge. This week I know is going to be a toughy, but you are all super creative and i'm sure will come up with something great.

With Election Day just around the corner, it is important to remember how much people have struggled and fought in order to get the Right to Vote. This week the challenge is to create a "voting reminder card" to remind someone out there, that now only does their voice matter, but their opinion counts.

Originally I had made one of the qualifications to use the image of a donkey and a elephant somewhere in your project, but I found that TOO limiting. So here is the official challenge

" Create a Election Day, Voter Reminder Card, using the colors red white and blue, somewhere in your project"
So with that being said, I hope you all really appreciate the hard work put in by this week's Crafting Companion Jill

Outside of Jill's Card
Inside of card: She made those from Create a Critter :)

Here is what Jill had to say about her project :

"This card is 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 (8 1/2 by 11 cut in half and then folded).  This was quite a challenge for me.  I support the president and I do vote but I don't know that I've ever made anything crafty that is red white and blue, lol!  So, for the recipe to this card... I wrapped red, white and blue fiber thread around the card and then printed off a little "Don't forget to vote, Your voice counts" message on my little label printer and put at the bottom.  On the inside, I made a cutsie little elephant and the donkey out of the horse on Create a Critter, lol.   This card isn't one that will sway a persons mind in one direction or the other, it is one that empowers them to look at their choices and make the best decision they think is right. "

Now for my project. I also went ahead and used a donkey & Elephant, but I gave birth to something that from now on will be referred to as "The Donkephant" I know it's Hilarious, Momo and Sarah had a big laugh over my creation, but i think it came out super cute

Here is the video, I hope you enjoy it. By the way I apologize in advance for the background crying, my daughter didn't want daddy to put her to bed, and was very cranky. I actually had to film the rest the next day :-P

Tommorow at 10pm Eastern Time is my USTREAM Class. Hope You can Make it!

Card Drive for Madison

Hey There friends,
I just wanted to share a card drive that is currently going on.

I recieved an Email From Trish over at Tecniques by Trish and She's currently doing a card drive for a little girl named Madison. Madison was in remission from Leukemia. Their family was over joyed that such a young girl had beat this vicious cancer (she's only 6 years old). However, just last week, their family was just hit with the most horrific news that the cancer has returned.

We are trying to collect as many cards as possible and if you would like to send a toy or stuffed animal you are more than welcome! We just want to make her smile and re-assure her that everything is going to be ok.

CLICK HERE to go to Trish's Blog and get all the details as well as the address where you should send your card!

Thanks in advance for your support!

U-STREAM Class #1 List

Hey there friends,

I just wanted to list my supply list for my U-STREAM Class
Feel free to prepare them ahead of time in order to save time. Or you can always craft later :) I thought this would help those who would like to craft along with me during my U-STREAM Class.

The Layout I will be making is an "Autumn" Themed layout. SO I will be using a ton of fall colors, as well as Autumn themed pattern papers.

For this project I will be using create a critter, and by my personal choice I will not be using any of the faces. You can either use your Gypsy if you have one to hide contour, or just omit the "face" layers when you assemble your cuts, or even still use the faces, if you like them.

Tools
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Adhesives
  • White Gel pen
  • Pop dots
  • Brown Ink

12x12 Papers

  • 2 sheets of the same pattern paper
  • 2 sheets of a coordinating pattern paper
  • 2 sheets of Background Cardstock
  • LOTS Kraft Cardstock for making photo mats/ Shadows of cuts

  • Phrase Feature on Pg 33 cut at 11.5 inches real Dial size ** cut in Designer Paper
  • Phrase Feature on Pg 33 cut at 11.25 inches real dial size ** cut in neutral shadow color, for all my shadows I will be using kraft colored cardstock, but any other neutral works just fine
  • --- You will need a 12x24 mat to cut this out. Or you can cut out "half" twice using your gypsy/ Design studio.
  • Tree on pg 68 I have the tree in orange with yellow leaves.
  • Turkey Cut at  4 inches pg 70
  • Pumpkins pg 70, 3 total   2.75,  2.25, 2.50 each

Guest Designer on Made By Momo

Hey There!

I'm so behind on posting this. I was super excited when one of my Blog Besties, MOMO asked me to be a guest designer on her Tuesday Challenge. This week her challenge was anything goes, just as long as it wasn't a card.

Originally I had started a scrapbook layout for my daughter's book, then at literally the last minute, I decided to make a decorated picture frame for my Sister and Nephew.

I used my Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Punch to create a purple border on the side of my K & company spook-tacular paper.

I created the adorable little monster using Fondahbah Party Monster SVG from SVG Cuts, that I cut out using my make the cut software. I didn't add the face pieces because I opted to hand draw a cute face on the little guy. I used Diamond Stickles on his Horns and Sneakers, and did a little doodling with my Sakura Pen

The Masked Boo title is also  from SVG Cuts, and I added alot of doodling and star dust stickles on the mask.

I used my Make the Cut Software to Weld "Markus the Cow" Font cut out at 1 3/4 inches

I hope you enjoy this "Cricut Cartridge" Free project. And I'm just putting this out there, SVG Cuts did not ask me to use their products or anything. I just found them online and thought they were cute.

Hope You enjoy

Sneak Peak #2 A Pinch & A Dash

Hey There Friends,

I'm continuing to provide you all with some fun sneak peaks of the newest Scrappy Moms Stamp Set: A Pinch & A Dash.

The moment I saw this stamp set this was the first sentiment that I wanted to use. But I didn't know how feasible it was to create it. I had recieved a slider card from a friend, and I lovingly unassembled it (dont worry I put it back together ) to see how she made it. The trick is to use an exacto knife to make a small channel and then use a brad as a slider.

Toaster slider card

Toaster slider card

This card is 5x7 sized. I cut out the toaster from "From My Kitchen" at 6 inches, and I used my scissors to trim off the cord. I then used my Make the Cut Software to design a piece of toast using circles and a rounded circle (welded them together) in hindsight I could've used my gypsy, but it was charging.

The Pattern Paper is from my Stash. I used my fiskars uppercrest punch to make a fun side border, and tied a bow with some bright blue ribbon. 3 Buttons finish off this retro inspired card. I hope you enjoy it

A Pinch & A Dash

Hey Friends,

Today I will be giving you a sneak peak at the newest Scrappy Moms Stamp set: "A Pinch & A Dash"

This Stamp set has 25 Kitchen and Cuisine Sentiments that are great for any crafter. Though this stamp set can be used for a variety of images if you think outside the box :)

So here is my sneak peek

I cut out the salt and pepper shakers from From my kitchen and topped them off with hair from Paper Doll Dress ups Cricut cartridge. The heart is cut out from Create a Critter I added some Clear Glass Liquid Embossing to make it shinny, and used my Fiskars Threading water punch to make a layered scalloped border. Finished it off with the "You spice up my life" sentiment and a bow.

If you would like to see more projects using this brand new stamp set please feel to check out
Momo, and Sarah

Ustream Class** updated***

Hey there Friends,

I am so excited to announce with you that I will be doing my first ever Ustream class on Friday October 21 ,2010 NEXT THURSDAY at 10pm Est. The topic will be a scrapbook layout. I really haven't been doing as many scrapbook pages as I used to do on my website, and I do consider myself to be a scrapbooker more-so than a cardmaker.

I will announce the size pictures you should have and how many pieces of designer paper you will need,  so you can get everything ready before hand.

You can rsvp to my class here, and Yes I will be recording it :) You're more than welcome to come a little early for the chat.

I'm so nervous but I'm sure it will be fun

Scrappy Moms Stamp Design Team Call

Hey Friends,

Now that the call is closed, I thought I would share with you the projects that I submitted. I'm very happy with how they turned out, and once again, I tried to use a cricut cartridge that I hardly ever use.

I created a 5x5 square card set. I was inspired by this hot pink paper that I found in my stash and wanted to try to make a few things with Rock princess
I cut the heart from Rock princess at 3 1/4 inches and I used the PKS Laffy Taffy Stamp set to give it a cute winking face. Then I used my Scrappy Moms stamp "Everyday Greetings" to stamp happy anniversy. I just love how this one came out. I also added some bling as well as stickles on the crown. The postage stamp shape is from gypsy wanderings
For this card, I wanted to do something a little different so i cut out 3 strips of white simmer paper at 3 different lengths and lined them up on my card front, From there I uused pop dots to add the sentiment piece. I cut the star trio from Rock Princess at 2 1/2 inches. I'm pretty sure i went overboard with the white stitching since the grograin ribbon had stiching on it. But I just love the white button with the bow. CUTE!
This last one is my favorite. I think it turned out so clean and fresh The two paper strips are actually on pop dots from the black card base then I tied the black satin ribbon around them and tied an actual bow  :) then I cut out my Pirate Cupcake from Rock princess and used the hide contour to hide the face, and used my Peachy Keen Princess Face stamps to give her a cutesy look. I used the d'vine swirl on her upper frosting and cherry,. and Did a little doodling. The sentiment is from the scrappy moms "Sweet Somethings" Stamp set. I added some bling and it was done. I think this came out so adorable!!

What do you think?

I will be back later today with a video. Today is a big posting day for me
